SushiSwap has announced intentions to repay cash following a high-profile hack.
Some payments from a white hat contract will be refunded through a Merkle contract.
Money taken by black hat hackers will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Recovery of cash taken by criminal actors will be more difficult. Customers whose funds are held by the blackhat exploiter must send an email with transaction IDs and blockchain data to security@sushi.com. (Alternatively, they can start a ticket in the official SushiSwap Discord.)
According to the Sushi team, it is implementing an opt-in claims mechanism and will manage claims on a case-by-case basis.
Sushi stated, “Our goal is to repay all user funds to legitimate claims,” adding, “We appreciate everyone’s patience and understand your displeasure as we go through recovering funds to affected users.”
Users can check to see if they were affected, although according to Sushi, “you likely have no exposure if you haven’t interacted with Sushi in the last 10 days, given the exploited contract is less than ten days old.”
Meanwhile, SushiSwap is dealing with other issues. The US Securities and Exchange Commission has slapped a subpoena on the decentralised exchange and Grey, prompting the latter to urge Sushi DAO to pay a $3 million USDT legal defence.
